When we launched Pluto seven weeks ago, we said it was the beginning, not the destination. Pluto V2 is what we meant.
Under the hood, almost everything is new. The model is faster and substantially better at multi-step reasoning. Memory has been rebuilt around projects rather than chat history. Tool use — searching the web, running code, writing and editing files — is now a first-class part of how Pluto works, not an afterthought.
Highlights
A smarter, faster model. Replies stream in noticeably quicker. On hard reasoning tasks Pluto V2 lands the right answer more often, and when it doesn't, it tells you it's not sure instead of confidently making something up.
Projects. Group related conversations, files, and instructions into a Project. Pluto remembers what you've told it for that project — your code style, the people on your team, the tone you want — and stops asking you to repeat yourself every session.
Code Studio. A built-in workspace for writing, running, and iterating on code. Python, JavaScript, SQL — Pluto can edit files, run them, look at the output, and try again. No local setup required.
Honest uncertainty. When Pluto isn't sure, it says so. When it's guessing, it says so. When it can't help with something, it tells you why instead of pretending the topic doesn't exist.
A quieter UI. Less chrome, less clutter, more room for the conversation. The composer holds its ground when you scroll. The sidebar gets out of the way until you need it.
What got harder for us, on purpose
We tightened our policy on confident-sounding wrong answers. We invested in evals that catch hallucinations before a release ships. We put real humans on a sample of refusals every week to make sure Pluto isn't refusing things it should answer. None of this shows up in a feature list, but you'll notice it.
Who gets it
Everyone, today. Pluto V2 is available on every Invariant plan. Free users get the new model and the new interface; paid plans unlock higher message limits, longer context windows, and priority access during traffic spikes.
Where we're going
V2 is a foundation, not a finish line. We're already prototyping deeper file integrations, longer-running tasks, and a richer memory layer that lets Pluto carry context across days without becoming creepy about it. Expect the next big update soon.
Open Pluto and have a conversation. We hope it feels different in the right way.
