Today we're launching Pluto, the first product to come out of Invariant. Pluto is a general-purpose AI assistant — the kind you can ask to help draft a difficult email, debug a piece of code, explain a paper, plan a trip, or just talk through a decision.
There are a lot of AI assistants in the world right now. Most of them are good at sounding confident. We tried to build one that's good at being right.
What Pluto can do today
Conversation. Plain back-and-forth on whatever you bring it. Pluto holds context within a conversation, asks clarifying questions when it's genuinely uncertain, and tells you when something is outside what it can help with.
Writing. Drafting, editing, summarising, rewriting in different tones. Pluto is happy to be told it's wrong and to try again.
Code. Reading code, explaining code, writing code, debugging code. Pluto is opinionated about style only when you ask it to be.
Research. Summarising long documents, comparing sources, pulling out the parts you care about. Pluto cites what it pulls from when it can.
Honesty about limits. If Pluto doesn't know something, it says so. If it's guessing, it tells you it's guessing. If you're asking about something that requires a real professional — a doctor, a lawyer, a therapist — it says that too.
What Pluto won't do
Pluto won't pretend to be a person it isn't. It won't generate sexual content involving minors. It won't help with weapons of mass harm or with credential theft. It won't run targeted harassment campaigns. These are hard limits that aren't going away.
We try to be careful about the difference between a hard limit and an over-cautious refusal. If Pluto refuses something that seems like a reasonable question, please tell us — we read the feedback.
What it costs
Pluto launches with a free tier that's actually useful — not a teaser, not a 24-hour trial. Paid plans add higher message limits, longer context windows, and priority during traffic spikes. We do not run ads. We do not sell your data. The product is paid for the boring way: by people who decide it's worth paying for.
Where we're going
This is day one. Pluto today is the smallest, simplest version of what we want it to be. The next few months will bring projects, better memory, real tool use, voice, code execution, and more than a few things we haven't thought of yet.
